WARNING!: FMR IS NOT AN ADVICE BLOG!
FMR's goal is to inform, inspire, encorage, and amuse.
It's the story of one middle-aged Pennsyltuckian running for his life. Pennsy is not a trainer or a doctor. If you find inspiration, encouragement, or humor here, then we are both blessed. But DON'T look here for authoritative fitness tips.
This blog began in 2007 under the title Pennsyltuckian. It was a place for me to write long, boring essays on spiritual stuff.
In January of 2008, "Fat Man Running" was born. I began telling the story of my journey toward healthier living and fitness.
After several months of success and progress, I was laid off in August of that year, and fell into a deep depression, eventually leading to hospitalization. My workouts and my blogging both suffered.
Then, in April 2010, I was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma. I became a cancer fighter on that day. FMR: Fat Man Running became a blog about my family's battle with cancer, and my our journey from death into life.
Since finishing treatment in August of 2010, I have been cancer free and have resumed exercising.
I want to do as much good with the life God has given me as I can. My prayer is that FMR will be part of that work in your life and mine.
Peace,
Pennsy
